Merry Dog Membership

Each year Merryspring spends thousands of dollars maintaining the park driveway, mowing the fields, and removing dangerous trees so that all who visit, including dog-walkers and their dogs, can safely walk and enjoy the trails, meadows and gardens. Becoming a Merry Dog member is one way dog-walkers can help with the maintenance. All you need to do is send your name, your dog's name(s), address, phone number, email address and a check for the appropriate amount to Merryspring, P.O. Box 893, Camden, ME 04843. Please write "Merry Dog" on the memo line.

Individual dog: ....$35.00

Two or more dogs: $50.00

You will receive one static-cling decal (shown upper left) to place in your car window. This will show that you support Merryspring Nature Center and may encourage others to join. We'd love to include your Merry Dog(s) on our webpage! Just send us a photo via email at mersprng@gwi.net or via regular mail at the above address.

Merry Dog Etiquette

Merryspring is happy to be one of the few places in the Camden-Rockport area where off-lead play is still permitted.  However, we are not a dog park. We are a nature center.  We ask that dogs and their owners respect the natural environment, wildlife, and other visitors who may not be comfortable with dogs.

For your own enjoyment and safety, to protect and preserve the park, and for the health of other dogs and wildlife, please follow these simple rules:

  • Stay on the paths or lawns and do not step in the flower beds.
  • Leave all plants, flowers, and wildlife undisturbed.
  • Dispose of trash properly.
  • Park in designated areas only.
  • Enjoy your picnic, but no cooking please.
  • Footwear must be worn at all times.
  • No admittance from dusk to dawn.
  • No smoking in the buildings or on the grounds.
  • No bikes, ATVs, snowmobiles, or other recreational vehicles are allowed on trails, lawns, or fields.
  • No hunting or trapping is permitted.
  • Dogs are permitted subject to the following rules:
    • No dogs, except service dogs, are permitted in the gardens or formal lawns. Owners must pick up all solid dog waste and dispose of it properly.
    • Dogs must be leashed at all times, except in areas designated for off-lead play, and must always be under the control of their owner.
    • Dogs known to be aggressive to people or other dogs must be kept leashed at ALL times, including in areas designated for off-lead play.
