Dr. Timothy Waring studies how cooperation determines social and environmental outcomes. Using economic experiments and agent-based simulations, he builds evolutionary models of social and economic change to learn how sustainable behaviors and durable institutions arise and persist. In this program, Waring will discuss his current research project on how cooperation and community involvement affect sustainable choices and social infrastructure regarding food and other systems.
Waring is the Director of the Experimental Economics Lab at the University of Maine. His research interests include the evolution of sustainability and local food movements.
