Langlais Sculpture Preserve with Meg Rasmussen – August 13
August 13th: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Meg Rasmussen of Georges River Land Trust speaks about the art and secret discoveries at the Langlais Sculpture Preserve.
Part of the Summer Talk series, co-sponsored by The First National Bank and RE/MAX Jaret & Cohn Real Estate
Langlais was one of Maine’s most interesting artists, creating larger-than-life wooden sculptures at his home in Cushing. “Blackie’s” legacy of unconventional creativity and love of nature are still evident at the Langlais Sculpture Preserve, encompassing his home, studio, and sculpture collection on 90 acres of land. Rasmussen will speak about Langlais’ art, as well as the unique partnership between the Kohler Foundation, Colby College, and Georges River Land trust that led to the creation of the art and nature preserve, continuing his legacy for decades to come.
Meg Rasmussen serves as Executive Director of Georges River Land Trust. Prior to joining the land trust in 2018 she had a successful career as a landscape architect and served as Senior Park Planner for Scenic Hudson Land Trust in Poughkeepsie, NY. Her experience informs her passion for land conservation and community collaboration.
