Horticulturist Bryan Peterson will lead a presentation on the diversity of Maine’s native plants at Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, April 9 at 12:00 pm.
Maine’s native plants form unique communities that create a strong regional floristic identity. Some, like white pine or sugar maple, are known by many for their prominence in the landscape. Dr. Peterson’s talk will explore some of the lesser-known plants of Maine, including their place in the natural landscape, their virtues, and their prospects for greater adoption in gardens and yards.
Dr. Bryan Peterson is an Assistant Professor at the University of Maine, where he teaches students in the Environmental Horticulture and Sustainable Agriculture programs. His research is focused partly on the propagation and evaluation of native plants for horticulture.
