This event has been canceled due to heavy rain. Please stay tuned for a reschedule date later this summer. Thank you.
Fern identification is fun and easy. Unlike flowering plants — with leaves, buds, and flowers to remember all at different times of the year — ferns look pretty much the same all season long, so there is just one set of characteristics to learn.
Hildy Ellis will demonstrate how to identify ferns using the “Guide to Common Ferns of New England,” which she will provide to all participants. In addition to identification tips, the talk and walking tour will cover fascinating fern natural history, reproduction, and ecology.
The cost of this program is $10, with a discounted rate of $5 for Merryspring members.
This is an outdoor program; please wear sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing, and bring a hand lens or magnifying glass.
