Davis Saltonstall of ScrapDogs Community Compost will lead a free talk on food waste composting methods on Saturday, April 6 at 10:00 am.
In this program, Saltonstall will provide the audience with an introduction to a variety of composting methods for food waste. The program will show how food waste can be viewed as a resource rather than refuse, the equipment needed to get started, and show how different methods can be used for different types of conditions and scales for the average home composter.
This program is made possible in part by a grant from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection to ScrapDogs and Bo Lait Dairy Farm for composting equipment and education. ScrapDogs Community Compost is a budding composting operation, founded with the goal of minimizing waste sent to landfill and closing the loop of production and consumption in midcoast Maine. Its founders Davis and Tessa are passionate about environmentally intelligent systems and are working to encourage a happy, healthy, and resilient food and waste system.
