Backyard Herbalism: Herbal Protocols for Lyme Disease with Denise DeSpirito – September 10
September 10th: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Part of the Summer Talk series, co-sponsored by The First National Bank and RE/MAX Jaret & Cohn Real Estate
Living in a region with a large tick population and growing rates of tick-borne illness can be uncomfortable and scary. Knowing there are plants and herbs that can support healing can ease these feelings of distress and work in concert with modern medicines and treatments. In this talk, Denise will cover some plants that can be found growing in midcoast Maine like Japanese knotweed and teasel that can be used as tea or tincture preparations to help ease related symptoms. Additional plants that can be cultivated or purchased as herbal supplements will also be examined.
Denise DeSpirito is gardener and herbalist. She has grown herbs all over the Northeast, including Avena Botanicals in Rockport, Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in New York, and Farmacy Herbs in Rhode Island. She currently serves as Garden Manager at Merryspring.
This is an outdoor program. Guests should wear weather appropriate clothing.
