Maine Plant-Based Products to Protect the Ocean with Ariadne Dimoula – March 23
March 23rd: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Maine entrepreneur Ariadne Dimoula will speak about her company Paramount Planet Product in an online webinar hosted by Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, March 23 at 12:00 pm.
As an oceanographer, Ariadne Dimoula saw the problem of litter and ocean plastics and began to look for marketplace solutions. As plastic products like bags and straws began to be legislatively banned across Maine and other states, Ariadne partnered with veteran paper industry engineer Claudia Lowd to found Paramount Planet Product (P3RD) to realize the vision of creating better disposable materials and giving consumers the power and opportunity to choose better options. Dimoula will speak about how she founded her company and the innovations P3RD has made towards making plastic-free and ocean-compostible, “fish-friendly” products in zero-emissions plants, as well as a recent renaissance in the pulp and paper industry.
Ariadne Dimoula is the CEO and co-founder of Paramount Planet Product. She is a graduate of the University of Maine, holding a BA in International Affairs and a BS in Marine Science. Claudia Lowd is co-founder of P3RD. She has worked for over 20 years in the paper mill industry, before turning her attention to rural energy access and sustainability in Maine for the past 10 years.
