Outdoors: Fruits and Roots of Fall with Denise DeSpirito – September 27

Gardener and herbalist Denise DeSpirito will lead an outdoor presentation called “The Fruits and Roots of Fall” at Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, September 27 at 12:00 pm.
In this outdoor talk, Denise will reflect on the changing seasons and what herbs can be used to support the body during this time of year.
This program will focus on medicinal properties of fruits and roots of some commonly found plants. Following the lecture portion of this program, Denise will lead the group into the Merryspring herb garden to demonstrate how to dig up, store, and prepare herb roots for use throughout winter.
DeSpirito is a gardener and herbalist. She has grown herbs all over the Northeast, including Avena Botanicals in Rockport, Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in New York, and Farmacy Herbs in Rhode Island.
She currently serves as Garden Manager at Merryspring.
This talk is part of Merryspring’s Outdoor Summer Talk series, sponsored by First National Bank. Outdoor talks are held in the Hexagon at Merryspring. The cost of this program is $5 for the general public, with a free admission for Merryspring members. No preregistration is necessary for this event.
