Planting Trees in Nepal to Connect Communities with Carol Kinsey – September 1

September 1st: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Carol Kinsey of SeedTree will lead a presentation on the group’s work in Nepal at Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, September 1 at 12:00 pm.

SeedTree was founded in 1995 in Stockton Springs, Maine to face the issues of ecosystem and species loss using expertise in the fields of forestry, renewable energy, and human development. In this presentation, Carol Kinsey, returning to Merryspring since she last visited in 1998, will give an update on SeedTree’s project engaging communities in Nepal to protect and renew their forests and agro-ecoystem over the past quarter-century. Kinsey will speak about the reforestation project and a glimpse of the scope of its goals, potential program partners, and how SeedTree is augmenting their accountability with tree-tracking software.

Carol Kamala Kinsey is the co-founder and Executive Director of SeedTree, which was formed in 1995 after successfully engaging communities in tree-planting projects in Nepal. Following studying Indian philosophy and religions and leading a monastic life in India, she earned her MA in Universal Human Values at the University of Maine

in 1992. In 1997, she enrolled in Long Island University’s United Nations Graduate program, where she received a delegate’s pass to the United Nations.
