Transplanting and Dividing Workshop with John Fromer – June 4

June 4th: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Gardener John Fromer will lead a workshop on transplanting and dividing the garden at Merryspring Nature Center on Saturday, June 4 from 9 am to 12 pm.

Maine gardeners know that the first week of June is the best time to plant. In this outdoor workshop, John Fromer will teach transplanting methods for seedlings, divisions, and bare root stock into the spring garden. Guests will learn how to identify young perennials, as well as how to properly care for freshly transplanted seedlings and divisions. In addition, attendees will be able to divide and take home plants from Merryspring’s perennial gardens.

Fromer has been a Maine Master Gardener since 1998 and runs Appleton Ridge Flower and Vegetable Farm with his wife Kathy, also a Maine Master Gardener. Together they grow flowers, vegetables, and herbs in a sustainable and authentic fashion. He currently serves on the Merryspring board of trustees.

This program is part of the Weekend Workshop series at Merryspring, sponsored by Camden National Bank. The cost of this class is $30 and includes all materials, with a discounted rate of $25 for Merryspring members. Space and materials are limited. Guests must pre-register and pay by June 3 by contacting Merryspring at 207-236-2239 or info@merryspring.org.
